How to install Minecraft Data Packs
Items Filter V.3.1.1
Create easy and auto sorting system!
From Minecraft 1.20.2 to 1.20.6
⚠ Important - Read if you were using V.2
If you want to convert existing Hopper Sorters (V.2) to Items Filters (V.3), follow the steps of the "🔧 Update from V.2" section of the Modrinth page.
What is Items Filter ?
Items Filters allow you to you to filter several types of items from a container placed above it to another container placed below it. You can choose what items the filter let pass by presetting them in an adjacent reference container.
Items Filters can also directly drop their sorted items if you there is a fluid block below them (air, water or lava).
If you used to use V.2, you may have noticed that the data pack changed its name. This is due to the fact it doesn't strictly rely on hoppers anymore: you can directly pass an item from a chest or a shulker box to another one if you want to.

10 Update Logs
V.3.1.1 - 30 April 2024 : by KawaMood 04/30/2024 4:56:51 pmApr 30th
Bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue with lax mode not always working properly.
- The debug/recreating process didn't take the strict mode into account, setting lax mode to all items filters.
Changes:
- Reworked the process to update Hopper Sorters from V.2 to Items Filters from V.3 (command changed). You will still need to set the strict mode back manually to migrated items filters.

Is there a way to change the number of items transferred/outputted by the items filter at one time?

Nope, it always transfer items one by one, like regular hoppers. But you can change its tick rate (up to 1 per item per tick).

Very good dp man. Probably going to use it in my historical survival world.
Anyway, quoting your words, "Command blocks are actually used by this data pack to construct commands with dynamic arguments that can't be interpreted within a function.". I'm a bit obsolete in datapacking, but shouldn't you use macros for that?

Yes, and that's also why a V.3 is going to be released very soon (maybe even tomorrow).
You came at the perfect time for it. I don't recommend to use V.2 for the moment of course.

Oooh nice. I'll wait for it.
Also, wanted to ask, are you using any tool like Beet, Bolt or anything or writing directly in .mcfunction without any help?
Cause I wanted to update some olds datapacks and were thinking about using some of these new tools but only get confused with it. I do not actually know how much those are used so here to ask to someone who looks good in datapacking.

Nope, I don't use any dev kit or libs like Beet or so.
If you're not comfortable with data packs yet and want to upgrade data packs, there is an automatic upgrader on Misode's website: https://misode.github.io/upgrader/

Hello kawa, i've build a storage system with your datapack and I faced a problem... When the hopper below the filter is full, the itens that are supposed to just continue the main flow are getting ejected out of the system, this causes a lot of lag and it doesn't make sense. That's it, thank you!

Yeah, as explained in the thread this is an intended behavior for the moment. Unfortunately with commands, it would be too heavy to check if a slot in the container is able to accept a specific set of items, so if the hopper doesn't manage to pass them after some ticks, it simply eject them from the side.
This is a constraint you can play with. For example with automatic farms, most of people take benefits of that behavior to delete their extra items, making them drop in cacti or in lava.
But I would like to find a way to avoid that in the future, if I find a light enough way to do it.

In the event that the item sorter is full, and ejects the item, would it be possible to automatically make it eject out the opposite side from the chest (i.e. chest front, sorter middle, eject rear) it's checking for what to sort? Would allow for a disposal system to be set up, or even just a lava source.
